Indian flat bread / Raddish Roti

Indian flat bread or Gujarati Thepla or Roti can be made using whole wheat flour. Roti is made easily just by mixing all the ingredients like Indian spices and adding any veggie of your choice and make it like chappatis. You can try different rotis like carrot roti, drumstick leaves roti , methi roti using the same recipe . This recipe contains ajwain which has fiber and antioxidants and it is also used in Indian medicine practices. Raddish has good health benefits so, all combined it is a very healthy meal and easy to make too . Roti can be prepared for lunch boxes , breakfast or even dinner. This Roti goes well with pickle , raita or just with plain curd it tastes so yummy. Do try and enjoy this roti with your family. Lets start with the making of roti.

🍴YIELD : 4 Servings

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED :

Wheat flour – 2 cups

Curd – 3 Tbsp

Turmeric powder – 1 tsp

Red chilli powder – 1 Tsp

Asafoetida – a pinch

Raddish scrappings – 1/2 cup

Cumin seeds – 1/4 Tsp

Carom / Ajwain seeds -1/4 Tsp

Salt as required

Water if required

METHOD :

In a bowl , combine all the ingredients and knead to a smooth dough.

Use water only if required.

Knead the dough with a tbsp of oil at the end .

Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Later , divide the dough , make balls, flatten them roll them like chappatis .

Heat the skillet, place the roti and cook both the sides.

Smear butter or ghee on rotis .

Now raddish rotis are ready to serve.

NOTE :

Raddish scrappings contain more water so while kneading add water only if required.

You can make drumstick / methi leaves rotis where you may need more water to knead the dough .
